MINUTES

September 2, 2008

In attendance: Gena Breck, Tracy Geiger, Gary Gemoets, Susan Grandle, Mary Ellen Gregg, Olivier Heubo, Kathy Story 

 Excused: Blaine Goss

 The minutes from the last meeting were approved, and the budget report was reviewed.  Tracy and Susan will need to meet with Emily Guerra to create a budget report that is more useful to the team.

 Gena reported on Sunday School attendance. The team would like to thank Judith Ames and Carol Goss for their outstanding commitment to leading Sunday School for children from birth to 5^th grade from Memorial Day through Labor Day weekend. Plans are being made to adjust the curriculum for the 4s and 5s during church school to be more age appropriate.

 Tracy reported on the successful high school trip to Elephant Butte. 10 students and 3 adults attended. The middle school held an ice cream social fundraiser which yielded over $300. Carissa Rood, Linda Ramirez and Corina Armendariz graciously led this activity. Plans are in place for the high school students to hold a fundraiser doing odd jobs for the congregation. Funds will go to support the annual ski trip to be held in January.

 Tracy also reported the planned manual for future directors of the Children’s Garden has been turned over to the Buildings and Grounds team and awaits action.

 New Business:

Kathy Story reported that a team of volunteers has recently cleaned out the arts and crafts room. A concern was shared that this room has become a dumping ground. When supplies are borrowed they are not returned or are not returned to the right place. The situation will be monitored and will be revisited by the team.

 Old Business:

Gary Gemoets updated us on the Night in Bethlehem to be held on Dec. 20^th. a preliminary planning meeting will be held around September 20^th. He has already started contacting sources for PR. 

 For the month of September, the Sunday School classes will be emphasizing topics about prayer.  Prayer devotionals have been mailed to the congregation.  Susan will contact Congregational Life to see if they can contribute to the cost.

 Olivier closed in prayer.
