MINUTES

October 7, 2008

 In attendance: Gena Breck, Tracy Geiger, Gary Gemoets, Blaine Goss, Susan Grandle, Kathy Story

 The minutes from the last meeting were approved, and the budget report was accepted.  We are within budget for the year.  

 Gena reported on Sunday School attendance and also noted that the attendance for 4-5 year olds during worship service is rather thin. Tracy talked about a number of children and youth activities, and also noted that the Missile Ranger will be carrying announcements of some of our church activities to reach out to the incoming families at WSMR.

 Dates to Remember:

Trunk or Treat–Friday night October 31st.

Night in Bethlehem--Saturday night Dec. 20^th. 

 New Business:

The committee discussed recent requests for planning and funding projects that may not fall under the oversight of the CE committee.  We will fund approved CE projects.

 A recent visit from a candidate for the Youth Ministry director position went well.  If the candidate accepts the offer, he would be available to begin in January 2009.

 Gary shared information about the training he and Joyce attended titled The Truth Project which is from Focus on the Family.  They are excited about starting small group ministry.

 Old Business:

Discipleship Project – Susan reviewed the project saying that there are many avenues for spiritual growth that congregation members can be credited for.  A bulletin board could be arranged to show the progress of the participants.  We could begin this initiative on January 1^st 2009.  All team members were encouraged to view the website and think about how they can contribute to getting this ministry project off the ground.

 The craft room was cleaned up.  The CE committee appreciates the good work of the users of the room in maintaining it.
