Christian Education Ministry Team

December 2, 2008

 Members present: Gena Breck, Tracy Geiger, Gary Gemoets, Susan Grandle, Mary Ellen Gregg, and Kathy Story.

Excused: Blaine Goss, Olivier Huebo

 Devotional and opening prayer was given by Gary Gemoets.

 Minutes of the previous meeting were accepted. Budget was passed out, but not discussed.

 Written reports from Tracy were provided prior to the meeting. The youth candle sale will net around $250. Mark Hellman, the new youth director, will be arriving soon and will start work on Dec. 29^th.

 Sunday School and Church School report from Gena were also provided prior to the meeting. Judith and Carol have agreed to teach Sunday School on December 28^th. It will include birth thru 5^th grade. A teacher training event is planned for early 2009 to support the new volunteers in Sunday School, Church School and Salt and Light.

 Gary and Joyce Gemoets will be starting a new small group study in their home called The Truth Project. The Gemoets had attended a training event earlier this fall. There will be 12 sessions starting sometime in January.

 The Christmas Outreach, “A Night in Bethlehem” directed by Gary Gemoets is on track.  The date is December 20^th and all are encouraged to attend.

 Plans are being made to invite David Moody and Doug Schonberg, authors of the Discipleship Project, to come give a seminar to help get this project off the ground. Gary has started the inventory process. Shannon Kilburg has also done some inventory. Kathy will work on the bulletin board.

 It is with sadness that the team bids farewell to the following team members who will be rotating off in January: Blaine Goss, Mary Ellen Gregg, Gary Gemoets, and Kathy Story. Their service and dedication is appreciated. Joining us will be new elder, Greg Temple.

 Next meeting will be Jan. 6, 2009.
