May 12, 2009 - 6:30 PM – Jones Hall

 Present: Theresa Armendariz, Gena Breck, Tracy Geiger, Susan Grandle, Mark Hellman, Martha Mitchell, Greg Temple

 Excused: Olivier Heubo

 Opening: Susan opened the meeting with prayer at 6:30pm

 Last meeting’s minutes: Minutes were reviewed and approved.

 Budget Report:

Mark is still working with office to clarify available youth funds from last year’s budget.  No concerns with amount of youth funds since he came on staff.  Susan attended a moderators meeting to see where CE funds could be cut.  The “Special Events” line item was reduced by 41%.

Written Reports:

Sunday School and Church School

Judi Ferguson will be out June 21 & 28.  The CE ministry team approve for her mother to work for her during Sunday school and church school hours.  Summer Sunday school, “Rock Solid Followers”, will begin May 24th at 9:00am in Branigan Hall.  This will include all ages through 5th grade.

 Youth:

The older youth helped the Salt & Light Finale on April 22.  All had a great time.  Parent meeting was held for the High School Mission Trip.  Trip information and forms were given to parents and high school youth.  High School Mission Trip leaves May 21th and Returns May 25th. Las Cruces High School AP Testing was held in Watkins hall.  Mark had a chance to introduce himself.  Summer youth groups have started.  Mid High meets on Wednesdays at 6:30pm and High School meets on Sundays at 1:00pm.

 CE Committee Report:

VBS will be June 8-12. Nora Yaryan has taken on the roll as co-director.  Teachers and volunteers are in place.  More volunteers are more than welcome to get to know our youth and the youth of the community.  Volunteers are also helpful in assisting teachers as an extra pair of eyes, hands, and hearts.  The summer calendar is under construction with activity days for the children of our church and community.

 Old Business:

            Discipleship Project is underway.  There is a table set up in the library with materials.  A bulletin board will be constructed in the hallway of Jones Hall.  Step by step instructions about the project are in motion and cards are being printed and will be displayed on the bulletin board.

 New Business:

There is no new business at this time.
