MINUTES - August 11, 2009

Opening: Susan opened with devotion and prayer at 6:30

Items for Session:

Motion for Salt & Light to hold a Welcome Back Luncheon after worship on August 30, 2009 for fundraising purposes towards programming.
Motion for the Youth to hold a Pancake Breakfast before worship (7:30 – 10:00am) on September 13, 2009 for fundraising purposes toward mission trips.
Motion for the Youth to hold a Spaghetti Luncheon after worship (11:30am – 1:30pm) on October 4, 2009 for fundraising purposes towards mission trips.

Review and Approval of last meeting Minutes:

No corrections to the last meeting’s minutes

Budget:

The team will acquire an itemized budget for VBS 2009 to have on hand for leaders in order to prepare for VBS 2010. Curriculum expenditures for Women’s Sunday School was made in July. Noted the need for Youth fundraisers for ongoing activities and expenses acquired from 2009 Mission trips. Credit Card expenditures are being assessed for appropriate line items in the budget.

Sunday School and Church Classes:

Gearing up for elementary Sunday school classes. Looking for a few volunteers to cover some classes throughout the year. Currently, the Women Studies and Blaine Goss’ classes are taking place. Dick Dale’s class will begin soon. List is being generated for 3^rd and 6^th grade students to receive bibles.

Youth:

Mark Hellman will be having a parent meeting on Aug. 22 at 6:00pm to review information and handle questions. Wednesday night youth continues to meet where they have pizza, play games and learn more about what God is like. Many things were done this summer to reach and bring in more youth. Due to these efforts, the youth ministry is growing in number. Mark is excited about the new possibilities and cannot wait to see what God has planned for them. 2009-2010 Youth calendar shows many activities and events.

Old Business:

Discipleship Project:

Cards and points are starting to come in and will be recorded soon. Looking to add more resources. New resources to be added are people doing daily devotions and participating in sermon discussions. Informational bookmarks will be placed in Sunday bulletin to help advertise the Discipleship Project.

New Business:

Salt and Light will be starting on Sept. 9^th. A volunteer training event will be led by Jane Gurnea on Sept. 2 from 6-8pm. All volunteers and anyone interested in volunteering are invited. Volunteer handout is available and will be placed in the Sunday bulletin. There will be a S&L Welcome Back Luncheon after worship on Aug 30^th.

The CE ministry team will be writing a job description for a “Program Director” position to replace the “Christian Education Program Director” position. This will be drafted by Theresa and reviewed by the ministry team. Specifics of the position are ongoing involving collaboration with Administration Ministry Team.
