Minutes to Congregational Life and Outreach Committee

Meeting May 27, 2008

 Present:  Joyce Gemoets, Lon Anderson, Debbie Austin, Donna Farmer,  Carissa Brealey, and Rusty Smith.

 1.         Talked about summer movies.  Decided to show movies Sunday evening beginning at 6 p.m. with option for bring your own picnic beginning at 5:30 p.m.  We decided to go for every 2nd and 4th Sunday beginning with June 8 and ending with August 10.  We changed the day of the week from last year to see if it would make a difference in turnout, which was spotty last year.  We have 5 movies to pick for the season.  We want to emphasis Christian movies that people are unlikely to have seen.  We want an emphasis on family type movies.  We want to include a short blurb about what each movie is about in the bulletin/Lantern/Good News.  We will start selecting movies via e-mail.  Action:  Lon to advertise and ask Tracy about movies she already has. Carissa is to put it on the calendar

 2.         Talked about church sack lunch picnic.  This will be combined with a newcomer’s/new member recognition. Selected June 29th after worship.  Will not have after church fellowship on this day.  People will be asked to bring their own sack lunch.  Our committee will bring the dessert and drinks.  Action:  Donna will coordinate and advertise.  Carissa will get it on the calendar

 3.         Selected Saturday, Sept 13 for a church outing to White Sands on the full moon night.  Action:  Carissa will get it on the calendar

 4.  Donna reported on the rapid disappearance of cookies and fellowship supplies.  It seems to be moving out at a rate faster than consumed by fellowship hour.  Not a financial issue (cookies are pretty cheap), but a planning issue if we are expecting the supplies to be there and they are not there.  Action:  Donna and other committee members to pay closer attention to the supply and better gauge actual consumption at fellowship.
