Congregational Life & Outreach Minutes

August 12, 2008

 Attendance:  Joyce Gemoets, Debby Austin, Carissa Rood, Cindy Tafoya, Donna

Farmer, Lon Anderson

 The meeting started and ended with prayer.  Praise to our heavenly father.

 The following topics were discussed:

 1.  The group agreed to sponsor an international potluck dinner in

conjunction with World Communion Sunday.  The tentative date is Saturday,

October 4, 6 - 7:30 p.m. Action: Lon to schedule

 2. The group discussed the White Sands picnic scheduled for Sept 13.  We set

a time to meet at the church at 4 p.m.  The plan is to form up carpools from

there. Donna agreed to check on the availability of the van if necessary.

Lon will check on reserving a group spot and write up for the lantern/good

news.

 3.  We discussed the movie nights we have had for the past two years. 

Turnout has been generally light for the past two years.  We are not

recommending this as a regularly scheduled activity for future years.  It

might be more successful as a special event.

 4.  Donna Farmer asked to highlight the very successful "feeding of the

695".  695 kids were fed for only $660 for Las Cruces High AP testing.  Not

exactly two loaves and five fish, but an amazing accomplishment still. All

the volunteers who made this happen are greatly appreciated.

 5. Cong. life is responsible for fellowship hour on Oct 5.

 6. Cong. life is responsible for meditation (Lon) and snacks (Joyce &

Carissa) at the next session meeting.
