Congregational Life and Outreach Committee Minutes

Attendance:  Joyce Gemoets, Carissa Rood, Katie Grandle, Cindy Tafoya, Lon Anderson, Tracy Geiger

The meeting started and ended with prayer.  Praise to our heavenly father.

The following topics were discussed:

1.  Buying food for coffee hour:  Tracy will call in the pull tab at Sam's and Lon will pick up.

2. Caroling / Cookie exchange:

            a.  All will arrive at Jones Hall at 6 p.m., 12 Dec to set up.  We plan on needing 2 tables on the edges plus chairs.  We will decorate mostly from existing supplies. 

            b.  Katie will coordinate with Winnie on songs.  Mix of new and old songs is fine.

            c. Cindy makes cookie sacks.

            d.  Katie and Tracy will advertise both internally and externally.  No requirement for visitors to bring cookies.

            e.  Tracy will take care of hot chocolate

3.  We talked about not renewing the newcomer's connection but felt that this decision should be the prerogative of next year's committee.

4.  We discussed two questions:

            a.  What or where is God calling us?  We felt that God is calling us as a committee to keeping the church involved in the life of the church and bringing in new members to keep the church vibrant and strong.

            b.  Where do we see God working in our church?  There were lots of positive comments, including these:

                        -  Great kids' programs

                        - Spanish congregation

                        -  New members in church who are excited and volunteering

                        -  Salt & light program
