Worship and Music: Robert reported that Lynn and Barbara Kewley are going through the choir music to identify material that is not appropriate for our large choir.. This material will be donated to a church which has a smaller choir.

OLD BUSINESS:
The food drive has gone well, and the Deacons gave $500 to Casa de Peregrinos and $500 to the Gospel Rescue Mission. Socks and Undies will be collected through Sunday the 27th. Betsy Holt is working with the Gospel Rescue Mission and has asked us to collect school supplies for that organization.
NEW BUSINESS:
Rev. Al Kissling has asked for our help for a former campaign worker, Rhonda Brown, who has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. She is not able to get adequate medical treatment due to lack of funds. Rev. Kissling asked that we set up a pass-through account to handle donations for Ms. Brown. The church would not solicit nor make donations to this account. Robert consulted Matt Holt, who said he didn't see a problem.
It was MOVED by Debbie Austin and SECONDED by Mike Bartholomew THAT the financial secretary be instructed to set up a pass-through account for the benefit of Rhonda Brown, contingent upon approval by Session. The MOTION PASSED by unanimous vote of those Deacons present.
The Deacons' Fund donated $30 to a woman who needed that amount to pay her rent.
ADJOURNMENT: At 7:40 p.m. the meeting was adjourned to August 21, 2008.
Rosemary Maddox
Recording Secretary
ACTION ITEM FOR SESSION: The Deacons request permission to instruct the financial secretary to set up a pass-through account for the benefit of Rhonda Brown.
