Florence Hamilton opened the meeting with devotion and prayer at 7:02 PM. We welcomed new Team members, Melanie Grant and Joanne Kersting.
Minutes from February 10 meeting stand as distributed.
During budget discussion it was requested that total yearly budget be included and that under budget amounts be reported rather than “over budget.” Also, that when a new category is added, (such as 20409a) the overall budget be amended to reflect the anticipated costs.
Communion was served to 324 at the March 1 service. Policy about use of juice was reviewed. For April 9 Maundy Thursday service three serving stations will be used for intinction and one with cups.
Appreciative comments have been received for using both organ and piano with hymns.
A notebook of the music printed in the bulletin is being developed. Howard is editing with corrections for when they are used in the future.
Palms have been ordered for the youth processional that will be coordinated with the chancel choir on Palm Sunday. Easter flowers are still to be ordered.
Rewiring sound system components in the choir loft area could include relocating recording microphones. Mesilla Valley Music will be consulted about complementary changes.
Signs are requested from Buildings and Grounds for “Children’s Activity Bags Take to use Please leave on pew.” It is hoped this will simplify refilling the bags. We will try using an assistant to help seat the children for the young disciples talk.
Music and Worship has a significant role in helping achieve the Vision Objectives of our congregation.
“To develop spiritual leadership...” we will continue to bring in youth as worship leaders.
“To reach out to the community ....” we will encourage school groups to present at least three additional concerts, present two organ concerts/recitals (one was in February) and invite the community to a second chancel choir presentation.
“To bind [folks] into Christian community...” we will ask all to join in singing the Hallelujah Chorus at Easter, continue a diversity of liturgists, try to meet new persons each week and especially parents on Salt and Light event Sundays.
Meeting was closed with prayer at 8:20 PM
