MEETING MINUTES – SEPTEMBER 8, 2009

The meeting opened at 7:00 PM with Melanie reading the story of the hymn, “Great is Thy Faithfulness,” and prayer.
No changes were made to the August 11 minutes as distributed. The team thanked the choir director search committee, the active elders on the Music and Worship team, for all their efforts which have concluded with the hiring of Director of Music, David Klement.
Financial statement through August shows our expenses within budget. Extra choir music expense may be needed with an increase in singers. Howard distributed a sheet explaining cuts that have been made in organ music budget. The moderator asked all team members to begin thinking about adjustments to budget allocations for 2010. .
Communion was served to 210 at the September 6 service.
It was announced that the next Saturday Night Life, alternative once-a-month informal service, will be September 12 at 6:00 PM. Following a discussion of up-coming worship activity it was moved to support a 4:00 PM family worship on Christmas Eve in addition to the 7:00 PM service we have had. Motion seconded and passed.
A leader for each choir section has been selected for this fall. A motion was made and passed to support the Director of Music as manager of section leader activity.
Reports about regular activities: Howard arranged for pianos to be tuned Friday, September 4. Choir room adjustments are underway with the help of Buildings and Grounds. Young Disciples leaders scheduled through September, include the return of Scott Burns. Jim will work out a date and steps to complete removal of the old control box and related sound system changes. Help of all team members can be used for communion preparation and clean up.
Sanctuary decorations will change the first of October. This would be a good opportunity for new assistants to learn about decorations. The Inbetweeners have announced they will assist with Christmas decorating on November 28.
Other Business: Reported from many sources is appreciation for the summer music. A motion was made and passed to thank Dan Molloy for his work as summer music coordinator.
