The meeting was opened at 7:00 PM with prayer
Team members placed “outstanding music” as what to most remember from Christmas 2009. The youth service and participation of our high school youth was cited as an important outreach program. .
Minutes of the December 8 meeting were accepted as distributed. Session did approve the Concert Series Program and offerings to be received at the first two events.
There were 245 who partook of communion on January 3. An embroidered napkin for communion bread from a mission in Palomas was received with appreciation. Our scheduled April communion is Easter Sunday; some adjustments may be needed. The pending Presbytery meeting on April 23 will include a special worship service where communion may be planned
For 2010, Team members will monitor and report about our regular activities as follows:
Choir David, Melanie
Bell Choir Marianne
Organ–Other instruments Howard
Pulpit Supply Wayne, a list of participants and potential persons is to be developed.
Liturgists Florence
Young Disciples Leaders Marsha/Judith Ames
Children’s activity bags Howard/Esther
Communion Preparation Jim
Making communion wafers – Judith Ames
Sound/AV A Deacon
Sanctuary decorations Deacon (or Wayne)
A motion was passed to thank Mariann Novak and Erin Taylor for the beautiful sanctuary decorations that enriched Advent and Christmas, to thank Judith Ames for faithfully providing wafers for each communion service and weekly arranging young disciple presenters, and Esther Smolleck for maintaining the children’s activity bags. Although not regular team members, they add much to our worship services and are greatly appreciated by the Music & Worship Team.
David Klement reported about plans for the Sunday, February 14 Hymn Festival with Dr Michael Burkhardt, composer/director. The American Guild of Organists are circulating publicity and handling other mechanics. Community choir leaders are being urged to participate in this which will bring into First Presbyterian church youth choirs, NMSU groups and choir representative from other churches. Our Team is asked to help spread the word and encourage friends in the community to come into our church. Team members are to serve as welcoming hosts. A page describing our church activities is needed for the program.
The team thoroughly discussed the proposed budget cuts and adjustments and made recommendations to take to the budget discussions. They strongly recommend that revenue producing line items have an adjacent entry showing income. A sheet separate from the budget documents the Organ Maintenance & Repair Carry-forward account set up by Session in November 2007. The current need for those funds was emphasized and will be discussed with the Administration Ministry Team.
Upcoming team responsibilities include un-decorating on January 16, Fellowship Hour on January 17 and communion preparation at 8:30 AM on February 7.
The meeting was closed with prayer at 8:25 PM
