MISSION MINISTRY TEAM MINUTES

October 14, 2008

 Acting Moderator Bruce Pearson opened the meeting with prayer at 7:08 a.m.

 PRESENT: Bruce Pearson, Clint Woodward, Rosemary Maddox, and Alex Burr

EXCUSED: Tommy Matkin, Dutch Matkin, and Robert McPherson

ABSENT:    Bob Taylor

 Approval of Minutes: The minutes of the meeting of September 9, 2008 were approved as published.

 Reports on Missionary Contacts Regarding New Mission Directory:

1.  Bruce has obtained the requested information from all his contacts. No information has been received from the Harveys in Oxford, England. Rosemary will follow up on this. Clint will contact Donna Evans at Wycliffe Bible Translators, Philippines.

 Old Business:

1. Peacemaking Offering: The question of to whom to give the share of this offering retained by our church was discussed.  It was felt, in light of the recent presentation by Ms. Thorne about the situation in the Juarez area, that giving these funds to Cristo Rey again would be appropriate. No action was taken.

2. New Mission Directory: Renewed efforts will be made to have the requested information available for the November meeting.

3. Christmas Joy Offering: Supplies have been ordered.

 New Business:

1. 2009 Budget. There will be some changes in our 2009 budget, e.g., the Carricks have returned to the States and Andrew is pastoring two congregations in Tennessee. We will continue to pay them through this year (i.e., through December 2008). It was decided to postpone this discussion until we receive work sheets from the overall budget committee.  Also, we need to know the amount of the Peacemaking allocation, as well as the status of missionaries from whom we have not yet heard.

 The meeting was adjourned with prayer by Clint at 7:45 p.m.
