     MISSIONS MINISTRY TEAM MINUTES

 April 14, 2009

The meeting was opened at 7:00 p.m. with prayer by Alex Burr.

PRESENT: Alex Burr, Blaine Goss, Janice Sherman, Jacque Parks, Rosemary Maddox, Bob Taylor, and two guests from Christian Education, Gena Breck and Theresa Armendariz.

 1. Mission Budget Expenses Report:  The report for the quarter ending March 31, 2009, was reviewed and discussed. Several questions were raised; Alex asked Team members to write their comments on a copy of a report, and he will refer them to the appropriate person in the office.

 2. Discipleship Project:  Gena Breck, representing the Christian Life Committee, spoke of the importance of taking time from our busy lives to enhance our spiritual education. She described a program they have created where participants can earn points for Bible study, watching spiritual videos, etc. Points will be posted on a chart and different ministry teams can compete with each other, with the hope that this competition will spark excitement and get people involved in growing spiritually.

 3. Peacemaking Offering:   The firm that prints the materials for this offering, which will be taken on Pentecost Sunday, proposes to send us 300 offering envelopes, 300 each of two different bulletin inserts. and 300 placemats. It was felt that we have no use for the placemats, but Alex will check with the Christian Life Committee to see if they have anything planned.

 4. The Lyttons:  The Lyttons have moved to Beijing, the capital of China, where they can emphasize the music and media part of their ministry. The consensus of the team is that this is a good move for the Lyttons.

 5. The Lantern:  Bob said that unless another topic is suggested within the next few days, he will write an article about the religious revival that is going on in Suri-Baale, Ethopia.

ADJOURNMENT:  The meeting was adjourned with prayer at 7:35 p.m.
