MISSIONS MINISTRY TEAM MINUTES

Minutes of August 11, 2009 Meeting

The meeting was opened with prayer by Moderator Alex Burr at 7:02 p.m.

PRESENT: Alex Burr, Blaine Goss, Bob Taylor, Lloyd Kirschenmann, and Bruce Pearson

APPROVAL OF MINUTES: The minutes as distributed were approved.

DISTRIBUTION OF CORRESPONDENCE: Correspondence received was distributed to the appropriate Team members.

LIST OF APPEALS: It was noted that a list of appeals for donation was being started for information purposes.

VISIT OF Carol FUJII: Synod is sponsoring a visit to the area of Carol Fujii, missionary in Japan. The mission team is coordinating that visit the last week in September. If the visit materializes, some from the team will meet with her.

CRISTO REY OUTREACH: Lloyd Kirschenmann, newly appointed to their board and a new mission team member, reported on that effort. He said that a new director has created a much more organized program with 30 to 40 children participating. A Girl Scout program is starting and much interest has been shown in soccer.

MISSIONS DIRECTORY: Bruce Pearson discussed the entries in the booklet which had not yet been received. The missing items should be sent to him no later than August 15. The subject of mission activity of special interest to some members of the congregation but which is not specifically sponsored by the church was discussed.

ADJOURNMENT:  The meeting was closed with prayer at about 7:30 PM.
