MISSIONS MINISTRY TEAM MINUTES

Minutes of November 10, 2009 Meeting

 The meeting was opened with prayer by Moderator Alex Burr at 7:00 p.m.

 PRESENT: Alex Burr, Bob Taylor, Blaine Goss, Janice Sherman, Jacque Parks, Rosemary Maddox, and Lloyd Kirschenmann.

 APPROVAL OF MINUTES: The minutes of the October 14th meeting were approved as published.

 DISTRIBUTION OF COMMUNICATIONS: Communications received since the last meeting were distributed to the appropriate Team members.

 REPORT ON THREE BOOKS SEMINAR: Alex presented the proposal for a Three Books Seminar to the Session. He has tried to contact the local mosque, without success.

 ANNUAL REPORT PARAGRAPHS: If any Team member has a paragraph they would like to see in the Annual Report, he or she should let Alex know.

 MISSION BOOKLET - FORM AND PROOFING: The text pages of the new Mission Booklet were given to the appropriate Team members for proofreading and correction. Alex asked for suggestions for cover art and color. He has a few steps yet to complete, and will contact the copy center to determine how much the printing will cost.

 BUDGET: Alex pointed out that some decisions will have to be made when the Team works on the budget at the December meeting. The Soldwisches, who have retired from the mission field, will not be included in next year's budget. Consideration will be given to a replacement or, in the alternative, to increases to the remaining missions and/or missionaries. Bob said he is concerned that we do not have a missionary in South America.

 CHRISTMAS JOY OFFERING: Alex will write an article about this offering for The Lantern, and Blaine will give a Minute for Missions on Sunday, December 13th. The main offering will be taken on Sunday, December 20th, with a second one at the Christmas Eve Service. Four different bulletin inserts have been ordered and have arrived. Alex will check with Music and Worship and with Rev. Story to see if there are any objections to these dates.

 ECHO: A solicitation received from an organization called ECHO, Networking Global Hunger Solutions, was discussed.

 OTHER: Bob said he would like to write an article for the Lantern about the Prasads, missionaries in India whom we support. Alex said that would be welcome.

 ADJOURNMENT: The meeting was adjourned with prayer at 7:50 p.m.
