STATED SESSION MEETING
POLLING OF SESSION via E-Mail
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 30, 2008
In accord with a motion made an approved in the session meeting of October 21, 2001 to poll the session by e-mail for approval or disapproval of the motion and Columbarium Agreements being prepared by Elders Alex Burr, Bob Paul, and Charlie Yaryan, the session was polled October 24 through October 30, 2008.
The motion reads:
The session approves the establishment of a columbarium outside the northwest corner of the sanctuary if the committee can obtain at least $20,000.00 in funding before September 2009. The columbarium will be supported only by reservation fees and designated donations.
The Agreements (Fundraising contracts) read:
Niche Reservation
I, the undersigned, having reviewed the plans to construct a columbarium at First Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in Las Cruces, NM agree to the following:
-To pay $950.00 to reserve a niche for at most two urns in the columbarium, in a check made payable to First Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), the funds to be held in escrow until at least $20,000.00 is raised to construct this project or until September 1, 2009.
The Church, represented by the Clerk of Session, agrees that all of the funds raised by this project will go to the construction of the columbarium and its maintenance, and agrees to refund the fee, which was paid, on September 1, 2009, if this project is not undertaken.
Donation to the Project
I, the undersigned, having reviewed the plans to construct a columbarium at First Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in Las Cruces, NM agree to the following:
-To pay $_____________, in a check made payable to First Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), as a donation toward this project. I also understand that my contribution will be held in escrow until at least $20,000.00 is raised to construct this project or until September 1, 2009.
The Church, represented by the Clerk of Session, agrees that all of the funds raised by this project will go to the construction of the columbarium and its maintenance, and agrees to refund the donation, which was paid, on September 1, 2009, if this project is not undertaken.
A majority of the elders responded and voted in favor of the motion and agreements.
