Special Offerings

This is a listing of special offerings which the Session has approved and are taken during the year. In dollars given, they total an additional 10% of the total offerings given by this congregation during the year.

One Great Hour of Sharing Offering - this is a denominational offering taken at Easter for crisis and self-development of people.

Petecost - this is a denominational offering for children at risk as well as ministries with youth and young adults - 40% remains locally, 60% goes to the denomination for child advocacy, and ministries with youth and young adults

Peacemaking Offering - another denominational offering taken on World Communion Sunday in October and goes for peacemaking efforts locally (25%) and throughout the world

Christmas/Joy Offering - our final denominational offering for which 50% goes to retired pastors and spouses in need of additional financial aid and 50% goes to our Presbyterian racial/ethnic schools

2 Cents a Meal Offering - taken on the first Sunday of each month, this money goes for hunger programs within our presbytery

School Supplies - this is for needy students at Oregon Elementary (across the street)

Chimney Spring Camp and Retreat Center - this offering is taken usually once a year for our presbytery camp

Deacon's Fund - this is taken on the second Sunday of each month and goes for mission projects designated by the Diaconate

CASA - this is not really an offering, but rather a purchase of Christmas gifts by individuals for foster children in CASA

Blankets - this offering is taken by the Presbyterian Women to purchase blankets for the needy throughout the world

COPE - this offering is taken by the Presbyterian Women to assist abused women in Otero County

Thank Offering - another offering taken by the Presbyterian Women which goes for special grants for projects designated by the national office of the Presbyterian Women
