The Gestalt approach to organizational consulting for businesses, public service organizations and educational institutions educates the client system in how to improve awareness of its functioning and enhance its ability to take action. The special value of Gestalt lies in how awareness is conceptualized and how barriers to action are encountered.
I can provide licensure candidates with supervision. My approach to supervision, however, is not to keep our attention on the problem of diagnosis of the patient. In keeping with Gestalt theory and philosophy, our interest remains focused on the phenomenology of the therapist's experience. It is the liveliest figure in the supervision session. To insist that supervision is not therapy overlooks moments of great potential and supports a view of psychotherapy and growth that is alien to Gestalt. I prefer to have a group; but that is often not possible, so I will also work with individuals.
