Location  Hillsboro is 45 miles east of Silver City via State Highway 152 (Note: numerous curves < 25 mph, 90 minutes travel time); 60 miles from Deming, 30 miles northeast via State Highway 26 and 30 miles north on State Highway 27; 75 miles from Las Cruces, 60 miles north on Interstate 25, Exit 63, 15 miles west on State Highway 152; and 30 miles from Truth or Consequences, 15 miles south on Interstate 25, Exit 63, 15 miles west on State Highway 152.

Setting Hillsboro is situated in the rolling hills just east of the Black Range Mountains of southwestern New Mexico with an elevation of 5180 feet at the intersection of State Highways 152 and 27. Kingston is 9 miles west of Hillsboro on Highway 152 at the timber line of the Black Range with an elevation of nearly 6600 feet. Emory Pass which marks the western boundary of HFRD district is located on the Continental Divide at an elevation of 8800 feet.

Meetings HFRD meets on each Saturday morning from 9AM until approximately Noon. All meetings are held at the Hillsboro Station unless otherwise directed. The first Saturday of each month is a business meeting. The second Saturday is usually devoted to fire training, the third Saturday to EMS training, and subsequent Saturdays to various topics.
