Alameda Park Zoo

Located in history rich Alamogordo New Mexico

Alameda Park Zoo is the oldest zoo in the Southwest.

The Alameda Park Zoo is located on Hwy 70/54 (White Sands Blvd.) In the center of town.

This zoo features exotic and Southwestern animals, including African lions, cougars, bison, and a variety of birds. A children's playground is within the park. An Education Center opened in 1996 where activities such as animal shows, films and crafts untangle the wild kingdom. The Center is open every afternoon from 1 pm to 4 pm. Stop in and enjoy the "Tank Zoo" display and nature videos. The Education Center is staffed by volunteers.



AFOTZ is alive and well at Alameda Zoo. This zoo is a reciprocal zoo of the Friends of the Zoo Society.
