Now was the time for Let's Make A Deal.
Alamogordo had a Herpetology Club back in the seventies and early eighties and it occurred to Donna that if they join together they can learn and grow together the three of them; mom, son and Striker the Mexican Boa Constrictor. What a smart lady. She kicked her fears but gained an expensive hobby. Well, expensive only because she didn't stop with Striker. No, she bumped the total to approximately 20 plus snakes and as many as 5 lizards. Now if you know anything about animals you know they eat. How about a rat and mice population of over a hundred and fifty. You think that is bad, now add the rabbits. There you have it, total chaos.
I have very understanding neighbors. During Strikers informative years she grew up taking walks in Jimmy's arms and as they grew older she got to ride on his bright and shinny 10 speed bicycle right up front on the handle bars. Of course you got to love the school system for providing a play ground close by so Striker could play on the MONKEY BARS. All this during her informative years.
Since her beginnings she has been the best companion. She spent long hours at several fund raisers doing pictures with a boa.
HSSS has been in schools, camp grounds, senior centers, pre schools, scout meetings, pet shows
and last but not least in the Alameda Park Zoo. Donna has decided to focus on the zoo in the
future as there she gets people of all ages and genders under one roof. Besides, when parent and
child are together, the parent must be brave.
