New Mexcio Firefighter Association Plan of Action

Overall Plan:

The Senior Centers will make a Dreamcatcher box with a Poster and place it in  each Wells Fargo Bank through out the State of New Mexico. The Governor’s Press Secretary will release a Statewide press release about the Dreamcatcher Project. The Dreamcatcher Project should be officially kicked off Monday, September 24.

Your Participation:

1. Select a volunteer fireman and a backup contact fireman to be representative to each Wells Fargo Bank. Work within each FF Association to cover your area. Introduce yourselves to the Wells Fargo you are assigned to contact. Leave your telephone number where you and your backup may be reached in case Dreamcatcher Boxes overflow, need repair or removed.

2. Check your Dreamcatcher Box twice weekly to see if anything needs to be done.(i.e., repair; remove dreamcatchers or any other unforeseen problem)

3. On October 11, 2001 remove all of the dreamcatchers in the box and box for shipping. After boxed for shipping, return them to Wells Fargo Bank and they will ship for free to:

4. Check your dreamcatcher boxes weekly.

5. On November 11, 2001 make your final pickup and repeat the procedure for October 11, 2001. The project will end with this date.

State Fire Marshall George Chavez has made arrangements with Mail Boxes Etc. to transport the New Mexico Project Dreamcatchers to New York and to Washington DC where they will be distributed to the surviving victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on America. Anyone, cabbies, firefighters, school children, police men, rescue workers who want a dreamcatcher may have one. If you ever go to New York, we hope the dreamcatchers will be visible hanging in a firetruck or a cab or wherever.

Who will participate in this program?
New Mexico Public Schools, New Mexico Senior Citizens, and every single person who wishes to buy or make a dreamcatcher, attach a card and sign their name and add a personal message will participate. The dreamcatcher will be gesture of caring from one heart to another.

Why do this project?
We will do it for the 300 New York Firefighters who lost their lives in the terrorist attack and for the 6, 500 other victims.
