In
light of the recent attacks on the United States, there has been literally
hundreds of ways to help and make donations crop up. We as a nation have
stepped up and took a stand and I am damned proud of it. We lost over 300
"Brothers" in those horrible attacks on September 11. What is it about
us?? When everyone is running away from the danger, we are running
in!! I will tell you what it is. We have a burning compassion for our fellow
man and a desire to help "anyone in need". I don't care if you are paid
or volunteer, union or non-union; when the call comes in, we respond. We
have always responded. I am proud to be part of that tradition.
Jim
and Betty Claypool from Otero County have come up with a very unique idea.
Let's send something that is unique to our Great State. Let's send "dream
catchers" to those that were directly affected by this tremendous tragedy.
Let's show Jim and Betty, who are both retired NM firefighters, what the
fire service of this state is made of and support this effort. Check out
their website and get onboard. http://www.zianet.com/jbpool/plan.html.
Wouldn't it be cool to see a NM dream catcher hanging from the inside of
all the fire trucks in NYC. I think it would be awesome!!!!
I think
this is a project that would be really easy to support. It doesn't cost
much, they are easy to build, and they will be collected and delivered
to FEMA by our Fire Marshals Office. Personally. I am going to purchase
the materials and have my Boy Scout Troop assemble a number of these and
challenge the rest of the Troops in Lea County to do the same.
