Array Operations Supervisor
• Supervise Array Operators including; hiring new personnel,
performing annual appraisals,
performing on-the-spot checks of products and services,
develop array operator training

• Act as liasson between Array Operations and NRAO technical and scientific
staff.

• Coordinate and perform follow-up actions on required maintenance.

Array Operator
• Receive, verify, process, and transfer astronomical observing
files from scientists worldwide into the MODCOMPS mainframe
computer.
• Monitor the 27 dish telescope array’s performance during all observing
programs while maintaining observing logs of each program.
• Diagnose encountered equipment problems to the sub-system level,
and generate maintenance request forms.
• Effect limited repairs for encountered problems (e.g. swap modules,
computer/correlator cards, etc.), and document repairs.
• Coordinate major repairs with dedicated maintenance functions
(cryogenics, servo, LO-IF, antenna mechanics, etc.) and control
vehicle traffic on the rails and roads of the array.
• Perform data archival of various magnetic, electronic, and paper
media.
