The people of Grant County have a very difficult decision to make. Grant County is historically a community who's economy is based primarily on mining. Mining is not a bad thing. But the decision the people face now is how much is the economy worth? At what point do you say that the cost of jobs is just too high. People in the area have to make a living but the Kneeling Nun means a great deal to the people that live there. It is no simple decision for someone with roots in that community. It's very easy to say that some things are worth more than money when your own financial well being does not rely on the jobs provided by the mine. But something like the Kneeling Nun is something that cannot be replaced once it has been destroyed. Here is a link to more information on a pending law suit concerning this subject.
If you have information pertaining to this subject, please forward it to me. I am not in the area any longer so I need help to keep up with what is going on. Thank You.
