Fried Mozzarella Sticks

Ingredients:
6 oz. mozzarella or Monterey Jack cheese (solid block)
2 Tbs. plus 1 tsp. milk, divided
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 egg
3/4 cup seasoned fine dry bread crumbs
Shortening for frying
Prepared pizza sauce

Preparation:
Cut cheese into 2 1/2-inch sticks.

Place 2 tablespoons milk in shallow bow. Dip sticks in milk; coat with four.

In small bowl beat egg and remaining 1 teaspoon milk together. Dip floured cheese sticks in egg mixture; roll in bread crumbs. Refrigerate for at least 15 minutes.

In deep-fat fryer or deep saucepan heat 2 to 3 inches shortening to 375 degrees F. Fry several at a time in hot oil for 45 seconds to 1 minute, or until golden brown and sticks float to top. Drain on paper towels.

Serve immediately with pizza sauce.
