The updating of the numbering system used on this page has been completed. Generation 28 is my own;
27 is that of my parents; 29 is that of my children, etc.  --   John M. Gwin, May 2009

There are three as-yet-unconnected family groups on this page, here labeled Groups A, B, and C, and one more, Group D, that is connected.

Group A:   my wife's (Sharon Gwin's) known line so far;
Group B:   a segment taken from a history sent to me in Aug 1999 by Robert Cruikshank, a friend in Alabama I met through the Droddy GenForum;
Group C:   a segment copied from a Droddy Genforum posting by Natosha Fanning.
Group D:   Carol Fouty's (Sharon Gwin's cousin's) known line--connects into Group AB

I, John Gwin, believe that the three now may be connected. Nothing is confirmed or documented yet; however, it seems plausible to me that they are linked as follows:

1. Group A's "1.--Daniel Droddy; m. Lydia M. _______" and Group B's "4.1--Daniel Miller Droddy, b. 1855; m. Margaret Shaver 27 Oct 1876" are the same couple;

 and

2. Group B's "2.--Charles Droddy" and Group C's "3.1--Charles Droddy (b. 1788), remained in Kanawha County , West Virginia" are the same person.

John,

You can find the text you are requesting on Charles Droddy in the book "History Of Roane County West Virginia 1774 - 1927" by William H. Bishop, Esq. on pages 510, 511, & 512.

Some of the information you have on internet has been quoted from some of my very early publications from information recited to me by the old heads of the times.

Two items they reported that have not held up from the records were:  there was no Mary Morris to marry William Droddy. Ruth is the only wife of record and the mother of his children.

Charles' own pension records described the service he saw, and none of it was at the Battle of New Orleans. Just must have been some relative who knew he had had some kind of service and that sounded as good as any!

Help me clear up the wrong information, please.

Regards,
Margaret Drody Thompson
