Bulletin, July 25, 1999--This just in from another Rhodes descendant, Mary Jo Dearing: She has found Emmett M. Rhodes in the 1880 census of Jackson County, WV (next county over to the west from Roane) listed as age 8, along with his siblings, parents, and paternal grandparents. A quick call to Dorothy Stalnaker substantiated several pieces of the information (Emmett's birth year and a sibling's name), leading me to believe that it is in fact the same family! I am now in the process of entering these data onto this page. What fun! :-)

I have...an 1880 Jackson county census record here that lists Emmett
M....age 8. Father is Isaiah and mother is Manda J. with children Agnes,
Manuel, Cordelia,Mary A., Ezra,Bennett and Alfred C. If you have Emmett
as having first child in 1890, he would be about 18...possibly the one
you're looking for.
...it has W014 beside the family...is another family on this page with
same no.
...Alexander age 74 and Mahala age 69, so could possibly be Isaiah's
parents...
re... the code numbers... the W is for the location...the other no. is household no., so I would definitely say that the Isaiah and Alexander are related.
