    Pedestal

Sometime ago I built a pedestal and mounted it in my shop floor.
I welded pair of 1/2" nuts together (X4) and quickcreted them into holes
I drilled in the concrete floor. That way if I remove the pedestal, I don't
have studs sticking up to trip over. I then welded up this pedestal and bolted it to the floor.
I find it very handy for many jobs. I made a series of matching plates so I could easily
mount different devices to my pedestal.

  • It just takes a couple of bolts to change the tool I'm working with.

  • and then finally, a rack to hold all the tools.

    File Handle and Storage

Long ago I bought a book titled "SHOP SAVY by Roy Moungovan

One of his tips was to drill a hole in a golf ball and jam it onto the file tang
and use it as a file handle.
I read this tip many years ago, but I didn't get around to trying it until recently.

    WHAT A DIFFERENCE!

We all know that our files aren't supposed to come in contact with each other
while being stored. If you have a golf ball on the handle, the problem of storage
    is worse.

If you have an old Sears (Chamberlen) garage door opener that you aren't using,
the 'T' track and a few pieces of angle iron works out pretty well.

This rack sticks out about 12 inches. Each segment will hold 6 files, so this rack
    will hold 54 files.
