Spare Tire Rack / Saddle Tanks

I didn't like the stock spare tire holder as the weight cracked and broke the fender.

I threw this together out of pieces of metal I found in the yard. I always expected to rebuild
it after I found all the bugs, but it has worked so well I never got around to redoing it.

There is no latch to keep the handle from vibrating out on its own, but so far
it hasn't come loose. I've had it on the jeep since the middle 70s.

My Jeep has two gas 'Saddle tanks', one in each rear fender.
They hold 6 1/2 gallons each. They were available from my Jeep dealer in 1966

The extra stop/tail lights are used when the Jeep is towed. When I'm not towing it,
they are plugged into the brake / light system. There is a lot of light back there!
