Morse Code is what all long distance communications used before 1930. It requires a skilled operator at both ends of the wire or radio link. Morse Code is not something your born with a knowledge of. You LEARN the Morse Code much like a new language. Not exactly like a new language because when you decode the dot and dash to letters they can spell an English word. What you first learn is how to convert the dits and dahs to a letter or number or pro-sign.
You will need a listing of which sounds mean what character. This listing can be first seen by clicking "code-list" below. If you want the file to print it, hold down the shift key and then click "code-list".
Your going to want the class instructions as well. They can be viewed and obtained just like the code-list but use "learning-code".
The best code learning tool I have found is a cd-rom with 132 MP3 segments and pdf files of the answer sheet and the manual done by Dr Chuck Adams. You can download the cd-rom image that is called "cw.iso" by clicking on cd-rom. You can buy a small battery operated MP3 player that uses a standard cd-rom for about $30.00 at Wal Mart. It makes using the code learning cd-rom easy.

To load this software on your computer, make a new temorary directory called \temp. Put KOCH.EXE into the \temp directory and with Windows Explorer double click KOCH.EXE and it will turn into 9 files automatically. One of the files is called setup.exe. Go to Run, and browse to the \temp directory and click on setup.exe. Follow the instructions on the screen and your all set.
The simple little program I demonstated in the first class is available here. It is called "morse.exe" and must be run in a DOS window. It looks for the computer speaker to beep over. It works fine on my laptop but might not do well on your computer.
To get the morse.exe software please click on morse.
