Coach:
Sean Muncie Our Head Coach Sean Muncie comes to LCAT from Raleigh,
North Carolina where he served as Interim Head Coach and Site
Director. A Site Director in Florida and former Head Coach of
the Gig Harbor Peninsula Swim Club in the State of Washington,
Coach Sean has led swimmers and Team to new heights. Consistently
breaking team records, producing state champions, developing Nationally
Ranked Top 16 qualifiers, and Jr. National level athletes Coach
Sean looks forward to even more success with LCAT at the National
Level and beyond. A University of Alabama Swimming Alumni with
a wealth of knowledge from around the nation Coach Sean brings
an emphasis on Dedication, Work Ethic, Stroke Technique, and a
Love for the sport of Swimming to the LCAT family.
Bronze/Silver
Coach: Emily Woodworth
Coach Emily began swimming at the age of 5 for the Kent Area Dolphins
in Washington state. Emily came to Las Cruces in 2004 from Seattle
University where she was a standout swimmer. .She broke 2 individual
and 2 relay school records her freshman year. She also competed
at Nationals where she was seeded 2nd and 3rd in all events. She
swam at the US Open in 2002 on a relay. She has a vast array of
coaching experience with Kent area teams, Special Olympics, and
open water meets. Her favorite strokes are backstroke and butterfly.
She is currently a student at NMSU majoring in Accounting. In
her free time she likes, photography, hiking and camping.
Gold/Senior
Coach: Sara Wright
Coach Sara came to Las Cruces in 2008 from
the University of Texas Permian Basin where she majored in Kinesiology
and Coaching. While at UTPB she was on the swim team and received
numerous awards including MVP from 2005-2007, 1st Team NAIA All
American 2005-06 and the Champion of Character Award at the National
NAIA Swim meet in 2005. Sara also set UTPB records in the 50m,
100m, and the 200m freestyle in 2007. She coached the summer league
swim team in her home town of Bay City, Texas while in High School.
Sara also supervised many summer swim camps. Her favorite events
are the 200 breast stroke, 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle.
Silver
Coach: Heidi Voigt
Coach Heidi is currently the assistant coach for the NMSU swim
team. She moved to Las Cruces in July 2008. Heidi was a coach
for the University of Wyoming for 5 years and was in charge of
the distance group. Heidi trained the Mountain West Conference
Champion in the 1650 free for the 2008 U.S. Open and swimmers
with 5 NCAA “B” cuts. Heidi is a 1996 graduate of
the University of Washington, where she was a team captain and
for 3 years voted “Most Inspirational” for the Husky
swim team. She coached in both Seattle and Montana and was named
the age group coach of the year for the state of Montana in 2002.
She received her master’s degree in health and kinesiology
from Wyoming in May of 2005. Heidi’s favorite event is the
400 IM. In her free time she likes to spend time with her husband
Eric and son Sevi. She also likes to kayak, hike and walk her
pet Greyhound.

Coach: Fuzz Thomson
Coach Fuzz has lived in Las Cruces since 1990. He and his five
siblings have all been members of LCAT. Fuzz swam with LCAT for
12 years. During the 12 years he swam for LCAT, he was a three
time Sectional qualifier, two time top three individual state
high point recipient, set two LCAT records, and helped LCAT win
five state championships. Last summer Fuzz coached the top ranked
Tennis West Tidal Waves summer club swim team in El Paso. Fuzz
is currently pursuing a management degree at NMSU. His favorite
events are the 200 and 500 freestyle. In his free time he likes
to play Ultimate Frisbee, guitar and violin.
Bronze/Silver
Coach: Ashley Johnson
Float like a butterfly sting like a bee, Coach Ashley, has lived
in Las Cruces since the age of 3. Ashley is a relative newcomer
to the sport of swimming, but has been an athlete all her life.
Her primary sport in high school and college, you guessed it,
was competitive boxing! Ashley has been a lifeguard since 2003
and is now a lifeguard supervisor. She has taught many swim lessons
and developed a PASSION for the sport of swimming by watching
LCAT practices through the years. Ashley is currently a student
at NMSU majoring in Physical Education. In her free time she likes
to swim, box, bike, or most any other physical activity. Her favorite
stroke is, of course, butterfly!
