Assembly Bogged Down?- Relief!
Baha'i Animations Page

Can you help? I cannot find the reference for the "she threw her son's head" story, though I know it is true. Please email me. Thanks.
Need An Image Changed? I can help- below
Want to know how to build a webpage?- below
Download this page and work offline?- below
There are more images below- but first you must request permission to use the animations on this page. All are copyright 2001, 2002 dennis hudson. So just send me an email
requesting permission, and I'll send you one back with the terms of
use, okay? Oh- below there are also several tiny animations
like this  which are designed for email use next
to your signature.

HOW TO USE:
(1)- Right-click on an image or animation. Choose SAVE AS and download to your harddrive. From there, you can paste into your web page. For email use, you probably cannot paste directly into the email. Instead, click INSERT | IMAGE, and your email program will give you a BROWSE option to find the animation file, which you then insert into your email.
(2)- Some images and animations are "personalized", i.e., a community name is included. You will need to edit the image to show your community name. Some help with this is offered below. Or you can email me- I will help as time permits.
(3)- Some images and animations tell part of a story, and the viewer is invited to click for the complete story. You will need to create a page with the rest of the story, and link the image to that page. Be creative! Research the story and write it. If you don't know how to put it on the web, see below.
(4)- It is not required, but I would be grateful if you would notify me of the URL where you have put the animation or image. Thanks.

Images
If you have a suggestion for an animation, or if you would like to learn how to
create images or animations, please email me. If you are asking to learn how
to do it, you must be serious about it- and you must be intending to use this
skill to create Baha'i animations or images in the very near future.
Otherwise, please do not waste my time.

Group A. These images require creativity on your part, i.e., you will need to research and write info and upload to a linked webpage.

notice the wording difference in the above two images before choosing to use

Coming soon- larger library of "The Early Days", on separate webpage
You can help! Send in your ideas on the theme of stories of the
martyrs (early and recent), and Central Figures of the Faith.

Group B. These images need a link to your local Baha'i webpage, or a change in community name.

Need help changing an image?

I can help. For example, the El Paso Egg animation at the top can be changed to insert your
community's name instead. I'll be glad to do things like this as time permits. Just email me. Meanwhile,
keeping in mind that the ONLY content which Users are  permitted to change (or add) is the name of
a community in an image, you might like to know how to change the community name in an image
(or insert a community name in an image) yourself.

Static images are all created in MSPaint. This is the little program that may be in your Microsoft
Accessories box that may be now showing at the bottom of the screen. Simply right-click the image you
want, click SAVE AS, and save it to someplace on your system. To edit the image, DO NOT then
try to open it as a file in the usual way, because this will open MSPhoto Editor. Instead, open your
MS Paint program; click FILE | OPEN, then locate and open the image you downloaded. It is
recommended that you create a copy of the file first as backup so you don't have to come back here
for it if you don't like your work.

Animations are done in 2 steps. The static image for each frame is done in MSPaint. These are
then loaded into JASC PaintShopPro Animation. If you have JASC, you probably have its Animation
Shop too. But if you've never used it, it's a little tricky to find. Open JASC, and click:

FILE | JASC SOFTWARE | LAUNCH ANIMATION SHOP

Once you get that going, then FILE | OPEN, and locate and open the animation you got from
this page. You can actually change the community name while in there (look at the toolbars), since
JASC has its own "paint" program. Or, you could SAVE (as bitmaps) or COPY the frames you need
to change, exit JASC, and work on the frames using MSPaint. Then re-insert them into the animation.

TIP: When creating an animation from scratch with JASC Animation, start with the command

FILE | ANIMATION WIZARD
It's a much easier way for someone new to use the program.

If you do not have JASC Animation, you may have some other animation program. Do a
search of your system like this: In the lower left corner of your screen right now, click

START | FIND | FILES OR FOLDERS
A screen will pop up, asking you what you want to find. Type in animation, then FIND NOW. If it
lists a program that looks like what you want, double-click it to see what it is. This is not foolproof-
if you have an animation program but it does not have the term animation in its name, then the
system will not find it. If looking for JASC, use this same procedure but use the term jasc (in lower-
case letters), or the same procedure if looking for paint. A search for paint may turn up MSPaint
AND something called PicturePainter. If you create a file in it, then double-click the file you created,
it will then open to MSPaint. Weird but true. Always use lower case in any kind of search.

If you really need me to send you the individual frames of any animation in MSPaint,
I'll be glad to do so, as time permits. Just email me. Later, I may actually post all of the frames on a
                webpage.

Prefer To Download This Page & Work Offline? Good Idea!

Here's how. At upper left of your screen, click FILE | SAVE AS. Then choose a location on
your harddrive to put this page (you may want to write it down). Then, when you're offline, go to the
file and double-click it. It should then open to look just like this page. I do recommend this because
you never know- I may have to move this site sometime. If you do download it, still check back here
to see if there's fresh content. Then you can download again and replace the old file. And ALWAYS
keep me updated on your current email address- it is a condition of use. I will NOT share your email
address with others outside the context of this animations project, unless requested by a Baha'i
                institution to do so.
WHY DO I WANT YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS? First of all, your use of these animations is
free, and it is my right to impose conditions on that use. Having your current email address is such
a condition. Important practical reasons for this include:
                                    1. Notifying you of new animations
                                    2. In the unlikely event that some image or animation is found to be not in the best
interests of the Baha'i Faith in some locality, I want to be able to simply load an
address folder with a note to let you know, instead of an Institution of the faith
having to announce it and try to find everyone who's using it. Things happen, huh?
After all, what's good in Beijing might not play well in Podunk.

Want to build a webpage for the Faith- but don't know how?

I've built a very friendly tutorial to help you. It features building with Netscape Communicator, but
the basic principles can easily be applied to Internet Explorer, Front Page, etc. It's an actual webpage with
step-by-step instructions for how to edit it (make changes to it), and how to open a brand new page. It also
includes instructions for how to upload your webpages onto the World Wide Web. And how to register a
domain name (for about $15 per year or less), and how to get site-hosting for your domain name done at
no cost other than what you are already paying your internet provider. I'll send it to you. "Playground".
You'll like it. Click here. You MUST include your name and Baha'i I.D. number.
