Story Teller
Having resided in New Mexico since 1981 and Las Cruces since 1988 Dr. Lehman is well known in the professional and religious community. For a number of years he was Director of the Adolescent Unit at Mesilla Valley Hospital and then the Administrator and Deacon of Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral. Since 1994 he has been in Private Practice. His treatment approach comes from his varied background, approaching things from a strengths and a system point of view utilizing his background in both counseling and religion. He believes that:

  • We must believe in ourselves and have hope to change.
  • Healing comes from the family.
  • All are able to make changes
  • No one is to blame for the problems.
Dr. Lehman chose the symbol of the Native American Storyteller because therapy is a process of telling of our stories, understanding the patterns in our lives, and finding our paths in the present. As a therapist, he acts as a guide as his clients go through this process of learning to see things more clearly. This eventually leads to making their own decisions. Therapy is a short term process, but we may engage in therapy a number of times as we journey through life.
