Serving Grant County and Southwestern New Mexico for 77 years The Silver City Lions Club was formed in the winter of 1930. Dr. Leon Bowers, Chairman of the History Department at New Mexico Teacher's College was instrumental in the organization of the club. On 10 December 1930 the first meeting of the Lions Club was held and officers were elected.Through the years of the Great Depression, World War II, and the years since, eye sight, help for the needy, and doing the donkey work for many civic pride projects, have been the day to day routine for our members. Funds used in our work are raised by several different projects in which members of the club participate. We prepare and serve barbecues for both public and private groups in the Grant County Area as a means of raising funds for our service projects. |
