Savior of the evening
that was uncalled for your kindness I mean
you embarrassed everyone with your generosity,
we all felt so uncomfortable to be in the presence of a possible saint
now there is an unspoken obligation to return the favor and nobody can top your selfless spontaneity the children were smitten the adults were touched the cats and dogs sensed the presence of a samaritan but you demand nothing back and said you would be offended by any such attempt
you say you were only doing what any plumber would do if they were attending a wedding where the toilet was stopped up
Words of wisdom
Freud would say
you forgot something
at my place
because you
subconsciously
wanted to return
Jung would say there is a mystic reason why it has rained for three days straight since you walked out
but my mother would only say I should drop you like a hot potato
Excuse me Miss
you misinterpreted misread and misunderstood me by calling youMiss I did not mean to imply your youth
had been miss-placed or that your beauty was missing I guess sometimes being too proper to a woman is a
mistake so sorry Ma'am
One more time
please repeat what you just said I want to hear it again and again and that song I could listen to it over and over let it never be over let there be another night just like last night the melody of my existence relies on repetition may your heart and mine always repeat I said, may your heart and mine always repeat...
You Told me
I wish
that I hadn't
just heard
every word
you just said
you have clearly
chosen to be
forthcoming
and that is
commendable
but I must
return the picture
that you just
put into my head
I have no place
to hang it
and
the great weight
that you have
just lifted off your
shoulders has
just landed on
my toes
and that
really hurt
I suggest
you think again
before you go
and verbally
self-publish
your next
"tell all"
truth is
overrated
you need
to learn
to lie
In the works
There will come an icon
and a song
and a potion
that will set
everything straight
until then
make due
with mere
medicine men
the real elixir
the dissolvable
revolution
we all know
will never
be FDA
approved
Bloomington Butterfly
Was never happier
than when I lived in
Bloomington Indiana
back when folks left their
front doors open
and you could hear
Steely Dan and smell
marijuana
seeping from the windows
sat naked on the rocks of a quarry with Sally, Julie and Cordelia who each became my humid summer lovers for I was the caterpillar in the high school production of Alice in wonderland
I so enjoyed being the big insect in a small middle american pond
