The ICS meeting was held in Vancouver,
BC, which we followed up with an Alaskan cruise with the ICS group as far
north as Skagway. We kayaked under Mendenhall Glacier, and saw whales swim
and spout, enjoyed seeing sea otters peeking at us, and observed many of
the regal great bald eagles.
My husband gave two medical presentations, one on a rational hemorrhoidectomy,
and the other on the Markle pyloraplasty.
Another great time cruising and dancing and touring and eating...

Mayo Alumnia Association in Rochester,
NM. My husband trained as a general surgeon there, and we attended numerous
medical meetings. I was very impressed with the many discussions on how
important it is to maintain top notch patient interaction skills and bed
side manner.
We also visited my brother Tony and his great wife Julie, who lived in
Eden Prairie. They have a large family: three dogs, two cats, and a bunny
rabbit. Check out their picture here.
We followed that up with a delightful visit to my husband's brother, Tommy,
and his neato wife, Barbara Foss Markle. They took us to the Mall of the
Americas, where we visited the aquarium, went roller coastering, and ate
at the mall. What a mall! We mauled it well...

The Western Surgical Association met in
Colorado Springs, CO at the Broadmoor Hotel. I enjoy attending the medical
meetings. I didn't notice one of the 300 or so guests of the medical meeting
smoking.
We visited the air force base with its beautiful quad-faith chapel, and
saw the Gardens of the Gods. I was very impressed with a home there whose
owner builds the most unique directional wind structures - all outstanding
metal works of art.
