The Isleta Casino, one of the largest (along with Sandia) has been around for many years. It started as a very popular high stakes bingo hall. When casino gaming was permitted by the state, Isleta introduced slot machines, to the detriment of the bingo hall space. To say the least, the old facility was very crowded and very popular, which made it even more crowded. The new facility, pictured below, opened in 2000. The casino is very appealing, both inside and outside. It offers a large number and assortment of slot machines, as well as gaming tables. And it even had a couple of silver strike machines the last time I was there. For the frugal gambler, the casino offers a wide variety of penny slots. Isleta frequently has big name celebrities appearing on stage, and has many of the amenities found in the Nevada casinos (snack bars, a buffet, etc). Well worth a visit!
