The USS Lexington calls Corpus Christi home.

This carrier was commisioned in 1943 and was involved in the Pacific theatre of WWII. In the later stages of the war a kamikazee plane hit the island of the ship resulting in 50 deaths and over 100 injuries. After being repaired the ship was returned to service and was the first carrier to enter Tokyo Bay in 1945

We were greeted that morning with a bagpipe serenade.

Looking up at the outside of the bridge.

On the flight deck.

Here we are!

The ship's museum is filled with room after room of fascinating artifacts.
