The State Capital in Madison, Wisconsin sits high on an isthmus between Lakes Mendota and Monona.

Biking, jogging, skating and walking trails
encircle Lake Monona.

A view of the State Capital from the shore of Lake Monona.

Obrich Park Beach called "Sandy Beach" by
children for years because of the soft sand
that has been brought in to grace the shoreline.

Ropes mark the edges of the beach's
swimming area.

A fisherman baits his hook in anticipation
of a late afternoon catch.

A sail boat glides across Lake Monona.
