Creating Callouts in Word

Open a Word Document
From the menu tool bar - go to View ->Toolbars
Select Drawing

Click on AutoShapes -> Select Callouts
Choose your shape
you will see a cross shape  + instead of your sursor. 
Click and drag to create the size you want.
Text can now be typed into the call out.

The direction of the callout can be changed by dragging the yellow square.
The fonts color and size can also be changed as well as the color of the callout.

Callouts can also be created in PowerPoint as well.
