Creating a PowerPoint Presentation

Begin by going to the Start Button
Select Programs
Click on Microsoft PowerPoint

Select a Blank Presentation
Click OK

Select the type of layout for your slide show.
In this example, Blank layout has been selected.
Click OK

Your screen will now look like this.
To create your presentation, go to View, Select Outline
(Or in the lower right hand corner click the button that looks like lines on a page).

From the outline view you can create your slide show.


Additional slides can be added by hitting the Enterkey


Bulleted subtitled can be added to any slide by using the tab key
or by clicking on the green arrow that points to the right.

To remove a bullet, click on the arrow that points to the left.


Save you work – save often!



Now let’s pick a background.
Go to Format, Select Apply Design

Select the type of background you want.
Click Apply


All of your slides will now have this design.
This is the Slide Sorter View.



To add graphics or pictures, go to Insert, Select Picture, thenchoose either Clip Art or From File.

Once you have imported your images you can resize it.
If you need to keep it proportional, hold down the shift key.


Images and text can be animated on each slide.
Go to Slideshow
Select Custom Animation

Select an Effect


If you have selected text, it can be introduced
All at once, By Word or By Letter.
You can preview your animation prior to clicking OK.



Titles, subtitles, text and images can be aminated.

The order of animation can be changed at any time
by using the green up and down arrows

In Notes View, speaker notes and comments can be added.
These notes only show when they are printed out.
They are not part of the regular slide show.

Slides can be printed out in various formats.
Slides (one slide per page – this is for transparencies)
Handouts (2 slides per page – Half page each)
Handouts (3 slides per page – with lines for taking notes)
Handouts (six slides per page)
Notes page (Slide on top ½ page and notes on the bottom
