The Mesilla Valley Iris Society (MVIS) held its annual show in April at the Mesilla Valley Mall in Las Cruces, NM.  Though this year the show was held after peak blooming season, the show still exhibited dozens of beautiful irises brought in by MVIS members and the public.   There were close to 100 entries.  The judges were impressed with the grooming and general quality.  The majority of the irises were the “queens” of the iris world – the tall bearded.  Tall bearded blossoms can reach 7 inches in length.  There were few medians due to the late date.  There were even seedlings.
Judging was held on April 22nd from 11:30 to 2:00.  A rosette ribbon and crystal vase was given to the presenter of Best Specimen in show.  Some of the other award winners are:
