| NAMI-DAC is the affiliate of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill of Dona Ana County through the state organization, NAMI-NM. NAMI started as a grass roots organization, and is now present in all fifty states. NAMI's mission is to provide support, education, and advocacy for the consumers of the mental health system and their families. NAMI-DAC's activities include: Monthly Meetings These meetings, for consumers and families, are held at 6:30 PM on the third Tuesday of each month, in room 110 of the First Presbyterian Church, 200 E. Boutz, in Las Cruces. Family Support Group These meetings are held from 4:00PM to 5:30 PM on the second and fourth Sundays of each month at the First Presbyterian Church, 200 E. Boutz, in Las Cruces. For more information, please call Dianna at 523-8518 Family-To-Family Education Course NAMI-DAC offers the Family to Family education course twice per year. The course is designed to help family members understand and support their ill relative. The course is for family members only. There is no charge. To enroll, please call 373-0199, (NM toll free 1-888-690-4322 ). The Warm Line The Warm Line is a consumer run friendly phone line, through which consumers can support, share concerns, and have a peer who is willing to listen and talk. The Warm Line is available Every Day from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. To connect to the Warm Line, please call 527-9114 or 527-9030. Jail Diversion The Jail Diversion Program arose for the purpose of keeping minor offenders who have a mental illness out of our prison systems and making treatment available to them. For more information, please call Nicole at 526-4528 or send email to: jail@zianet.com. Treatment Guardian NAMI-DAC offers the Treatment Guardian Program. Through this program, a trained treatment guardian is available to advocate for and make decisions regarding mental health care for a client who may not be able to make these decisions. For more information, please call 647-2821. Peer-To-Peer Consumer Education This program is not yet available. NAMI-DAC hopes to offer this peer based consumer education program in the future. Living with Depression and Manic Depression (not a part of NAMI) is a support for consumers which meets Sundays at 4:00 PM at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 2000 S. Solano Drive, in Las Cruces. which matches community volunteers in supportive friendship relationships
with children and adults receiving mental health treatment. For more information
