HAVE YOU EVER NOTICED?
Have you ever noticed that those individuals in
charge of High School or assigning,
Division one or two Colleges are either ASA
registered "True Blue Umpires"
or received their training through the ASA
program? Have you ever noticed that
most Universities use ONLY trained ASA registered
umpires for their games?
Have you ever noticed that Universities and High
School umpires use either the
ASA uniform OR the same uniform without the ASA
logo on it? Have you ever
notice that OTHER organization have past ASA
umpires training their umpires?
Have you ever wonder why?
THE REASON: ASA has the best training program
in the world, not just the USA,
BUT the world. Yes ASA trains umpires all
over the World to be able to call
International softball. ASA started the
softball program and is the National Governing
Body, the only organization that can call the World
Cup or the Olympics. The most professional, well dressed, and knowledgeable umpire anywhere.
So I guess the question really is WHY WOULDN’T YOU
WANT TO BE AN ASA UMPIRE?
WHAT ARE THE REQUIRMENTS TO CALL
CHAMPIONSHIP PLAY?
1.
To be considered for a
National Tournament you MUST attend the
ASA National School
being held in Albuquerque
in February.
2. You MUST attend one of the NM ASA
State Clinics in 2007
To be considered to call in NM ASA
Championship Play.
2.
You MUST be recommended
by your district UIC and APPROVED by
YOUR
District Commissioner.
WHY? I THOUGHT THE STATE UIC CHOSE THE UMPIRE FOR
CHAMPIONSHIP PLAY
- NO,
the State UIC assigns from the list he is provided
- The
District UIC/District Commissioner sees you on a regular bases NOT the
State Officers
WHY SHOULD I ATTEND ANY OF THESE
THINGS IF I ONLY WANT TO CALL LEAGUE?
1.
To be the very best you
can be.
2.
Years of calling does
not make an umpire good it ONLY makes you an umpire
3.
Everyone needs to learn
the new rules
4.
Everyone needs to have
refresher courses
5.
Most of all Every Team whether
it is league or Championship Play deserves the best. You are the ONLY one on
the field getting paid. Be Professional.
IT IS CALLED PRIDE:
“Pride is a personal commitment.
It is an attitude which separates
EXCELLENCE from MEDIOCRITY”
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Calling in a non sanctioned event
voids all ASA benefits during that event calling in a non sanctioned event in
an ASA uniform is grounds for suspension PLEASE REMEMBER: Always inquire when
asked to umpire is it an ASA Sanction Tournament? Be safe not sorry.
DON’T YOU WANT
TO BE PART OF THE BEST?
