HOW TO REGISTER AS AN ASA UMPIRE

NM ASA will continue the umpire on line registration for 2008 and beyond.

Online ASA Umpire Registration

Registering  as an umpire can be done two ways:

1. Individually as an umpire logging on and registering themselves. (Umpire account)

2. If you do not have access to a computer you can fill out the umpire form and  mail along with your registration fee to your District Commissioner or to the State UIC. You can find this under forms in the side menu.

Below are the instructions on how to register yourself or your umpires with ASA on Virtual Tournament Director.

As An Individual Umpire

Step 1-Go to www.adultsoftball.net and Click on "Get a Free Login" and create an "Umpire"   account.

The system will email you back a password.

Step 2- Login with your full Email address and the Password sent to your email.

Step 3- Click on "Edit My Profile" and update all the information there.

Step 4- Click on "Edit My Attributes" and update any attributes you have.

Step 5- Click on "Update Tournaments" and enter the tourneys you have been a part of.

Once your registration comes up to be approved and the State UIC has received your invoice along with you registration fee of $45 he will approve you.  Once this is done you will be sent, by VTD, you ID card showing you are a registered ASA Umpire in NM.  ASA recommends adding you photo through VTD to your ID Card.  It looks professional and you are a professional! He will then notify your District UIC to get you your Umpire Rule Book.

WHY DOES NM ASA REQUIRE ON LINE REGISTRATION?

  1. It is time efficient

       HAVE YOU EVER NOTICED?
Have you ever noticed that those individuals in charge of High School or assigning,
Division one or two Colleges are either ASA registered "True Blue Umpires"
or received their training through the ASA program?  Have you ever noticed that
most Universities use ONLY trained ASA registered umpires for their games?
Have you ever noticed that Universities and High School umpires use either the

ASA uniform OR the same uniform without the ASA logo on it?  Have you ever
notice that OTHER organization have past ASA umpires training their umpires?

Have you ever wonder why?
THE REASON:  ASA has the best training program in the world, not just the USA,
BUT the world.  Yes ASA trains umpires all over the World to be able to call
International softball.  ASA started the softball program and is the National Governing
Body, the only organization that can call the World Cup or the Olympics.  The most professional, well dressed, and knowledgeable umpire anywhere.

So I guess the question really is WHY WOULDN’T YOU WANT TO BE AN ASA UMPIRE?

WHAT ARE THE REQUIRMENTS TO CALL CHAMPIONSHIP PLAY?

1.      To be considered for a National Tournament you MUST attend the

ASA National School being held in Albuquerque in February.

       2. You MUST attend one of the NM ASA State Clinics in 2007

To be considered to call in NM ASA Championship Play.

2.      You MUST be recommended by your district UIC and APPROVED by

YOUR District Commissioner.

WHY?  I THOUGHT THE STATE UIC CHOSE THE UMPIRE FOR CHAMPIONSHIP PLAY

  1. NO, the State UIC assigns from the list he is provided
  2. The District UIC/District Commissioner sees you on a regular bases NOT the State Officers

WHY SHOULD I ATTEND ANY OF THESE THINGS IF I ONLY WANT TO CALL LEAGUE?

1.      To be the very best you can be.

2.      Years of calling does not make an umpire good it ONLY makes you an umpire

3.      Everyone needs to learn the new rules

4.      Everyone needs to have refresher courses

5.      Most of all Every Team whether it is league or Championship Play deserves the best. You are the ONLY one on the field getting paid. Be Professional.

IT IS CALLED PRIDE:

“Pride is a personal commitment.
It is an attitude which separates
EXCELLENCE from MEDIOCRITY”

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

Calling in a non sanctioned event voids all ASA benefits during that event calling in a non sanctioned event in an ASA uniform is grounds for suspension PLEASE REMEMBER:  Always inquire when asked to umpire is it an ASA Sanction Tournament?   Be safe not sorry.

DON’T YOU WANT TO BE PART OF THE BEST?

If you need help or have questions contact your District UIC or the State UIC.

NEED TO ORDER UMPIRE EQUIPMENT?

You can log on to www.asasoftball.com and order from the National Office or contact your State UIC who can get you what you need.

 SEE YOU ON THE FIELDS.
