As an entomologist, one of Dr. Mayse's primary areas of interest
is what might be termed the pest control method of the future. Known as
Integrated Pest Management (IPM), it is the study of beneficial insects
and other means of biological control in concert with conventional use
of pesticides. IPM, as Dr. Mayse explains, not only reduces pesticide expenditures
for the farmer, but also balances the need for pest control, along with
protection for the environment. |

Dr. Mason is a U.S. trained agronomist with substantial overseas
