University Studies Prove it
University studies conducted in June of 1999 in Nevada at Reno compared the performance of Specialized tires against Continental, Michelin and Vittoria in real-world situations. Five tires were ridden twelve times each through a wooden trough lined with half a pound of jagged glass shards. Only the Specialized Armadillo never flatted. To quote from the test results:

"The results...clearly indicated that once a tire picked up a piece of glass, the Specialized Armadillo was the least likely to flat (0 out of 12 trials) followed by the Specialized Team Turbo (1 flat), Vittoria (2 flats), Continental (3 flats), and lastly Michelin (6 flats)."
