How To Pick A Pest Control Company

What is the difference between pest control company's?

Pest control company's can be as different as the sunrise and sunset, they both look the same at the time but they are going different directions. A good company is always changing, trying different techniques, looking for ways to achieve better control over animals (insects, rodents and other small mammals) while doing it safer, being more environmentally conscious. On the other hand the not so good company is saying, if it's not broken why fix it, or if I can't get control with this pesticide I'll try another and spray more!

What questions to ask, when looking for a pest control company.

  1. What kinds of pests can you control. What if I have a problem with Pigeons, Bats, snakes, Termites or other pests.
  2. Can you offer alternative control methods to pesticides, such as insect proofing, rodent proofing or animal exclusion.
  3. Can you handle odors or remove dead animals from crawl spaces.
  4. What is the chemical name not the brand name of the pesticides you will be using at my house, and what is the acute toxicity of those pesticides.
You may say I don't know what this stuff means, but if they can't explain what it does mean, you are dealing with a low caliber company that may not be able to handle your safety needs.
  5. ASK QUESTIONS, BE INFOREMED.

Safety first.

More for the money. If the company said they will spray your entire yard to get control of general pests, chances are they don't know where to find the pests to begin with and are using volumes of pesticides to balance their lack of pest control expertise.

If you have to give up safe pest control practices to gain control than you are sidestepping the hole issue, that is a "safe environment".
