SAVOY GRAND PIANO |

After seeing pictures of the grand pianos on this web site Bebe Ventura, an interior designer in NYC, contacted Bart with a special request. Bebe loves art deco and fell in love with the grand piano in the Savoy Hotel in London. The request was to reproduce the Savoy grand in 1" scale. Bart discussed the project with Phyllis Evans, an El Paso artist, and the art deco design was 1st reproduced on paper and sent to Bebe for her approval. She loved the rendering and the project was given the green light. The 1st part of this project began with the bending of the case and building the complete body of the piano. Next all of the other parts of the piano were measured and the process to build the miniature grand piano began. The painting of the case was next so Phyllis had something to paint the art deco designs on. Slow and steady work began and now the miniature Savoy Grand is complete and ready to move into its new home. Bebe had Mark Turpin build the Limelight, one of his special designs, where the Savoy grand is placed. |
